The evolving role of PV in future energy systems
While in the past, it was enough for PV arrays to merely feed in power whenever the sun shone, with an increasing penetration of intermittent renewables, PV now has to comply with more complex grid codes and become more dispatchable. The controls are becoming a much more important part of the power plants. In the past, minimizing the CAPEX and OPEX was key to making projects profitable; today, the controls and flexibility to tap into different revenue streams are key levers to maximize the profitability of PV plants both in front of and behind the meter.
In this upcoming pv magazine Webinar, our initiative partner Siemens will explain what these global trends mean for the PV industry, prosumers, and network operators. Ralf Korntner, Global Head of Microgrids and Renewable Integration at Siemens will explain how the company’s SICAM PV power plant controller helps asset owners to maximize benefits in the next phase of the market development.
Samer El-Oukaili, Head of Energy Storage & Program Manager Grid Edge will share which technologies and use cases unfold around the grid edge, especially behind the meter.
Joining Samer and Ralf for this live webinar will be Malcolm McCulloch, Associate Professor at the University of Oxford. Malcolm brings extensive experience and knowledge of the energy industry, and will discuss how different market designs prompt different needs in terms of responses from the prosumer side.
Questions can be submitted beforehand or during the Webinar through a chat window. Marian Willuhn from pv magazine will be the moderator of this webinar.
